Dojo Podcast: John Kreng (part 3)
Hello fellow Fu-fanatics! Welcome to the third part of our conversation with veteran fight choreographer, actor, stand up comedian, and stuntman John Kreng. A holder of black belts in Tang Soo Do and Daito Ryu Jujitsu as well experience in other diverse art as Wing Chun, Siu Lum ( Shaolin), American Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Hung Gar, Kickboxing, Shotokan, Okinawan Kenpo, Kali, and several others. John is also a film historian, has done mo-cap(motion capture) work in the video game industry, and has worked with some very famous names like Jet Li, Tsui Hark, Yuen Cheung-Yen, David Carradine, and Roger Corman. John has written an excellent book Fight Choreography: The Art of Non Verbal Dialogue, which provides excellent information on this often neglected form of movie storytelling (at least in the West). On today’s podcast we discuss emotional investment from the audience, Yuen Wo Ping, John’s thoughts on Donnie Yen as a fight director, matching the fight scene to the time period, and much more.
