Film Fan Dojo review:

War of the Shaolin Temple is a solid entry in the old school kung fu category. The story is very similar to Jet Li’s Shaolin Temple, but what makes this one different is the kung fu choreographed by our 4 fight directors. As a big fan of the highly underrated Alan Chu Chung San I was pleased to see him in this movie and to know he had a hand in its action! Mark Long (Ghost Face Killer) appears as the Senior Monk and a whole host of Taiwanese kung fu movie favorites such as Chia Kai as the Crazy Monk, Chang Chi Ping and show stealing cameos by Venom Mob members Chiang Sheng and Ricky Cheng Tien-Chi ,who bring their acrobatic skill together in the fight scene, and we have the makings of a great movie to chill out and watch on Wu Tang Wednesday!

Fun Fact(s): The alternative title is 13 Poles from Shaolin. This movie is credited with being released in 1980 while Jet Li’s Shaolin Temple is credited with being released in 1982! It is interesting because the stories are very similar and even have similar plot elements. It makes one wonder which actually came first?
