It’s that time again! Welcome to #TrailerTuesday, where we look at some trailers that are action/martial arts related, catch our eye and make us excited. This week’s trailers include a MMA story, an intriguing tale of brothers on opposite sides of a war and a crime thriller. Without further ado, let’s begin #TrailerTuesday!

Born a Champion

Directed by

Alex Ranarivelo

Starring Katrina Bowden, Dennis Quaid, Sean Patrick Flanery

Plot: Mickey Kelley, one of the first American black belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, gets pulled away from everything he loves and into an unsanctioned MMA tournament.

Film Fan Dojo Reaction: MMA continues to gain in popularity not only in sports but moves as well. We are getting better-budgeted MMA-themed movies and Born a Champion is no exception. We get star power in Dennis Quaid and Sean Patrick Flannery (Dexter, Boondock Saints) and high-powered screen MMA and BJJ. Like in most MMA movies, family drama seems to be a central theme, as well as some type of personal redemption. If you are into MMA or are getting into fightsport movies then this seems to be worth a watch. Born a Champion will be in select theaters and on demand on Jan. 22, and on Blu-ray disc and DVD on Jan. 26.

Trail of Ashes

Directed by

Arturo Lizardi

Starring Héctor Escudero, Cecilia Arguelles, Arturo Lizardi

Plot: The search for the empress’s daughter reunites two long lost brothers who grew up on opposite sides of a war and now must choose between family bonds and political alliances.

Film Fan Dojo Reaction: We travel back to medieval times in this trailer. While there are no fight scenes to highlight, we get to see the makings of a horror picture with some standard devices such as bugs flying, eerie music, slightly off killer characters and a strange prisoner being questioned about his imprisonment. We get a glimpse of a female warrior with sword in hand, so we are hoping for some medieval-style fight scenes and bloodshed.Trail of Ashes was released in 2020 on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 (VOD / Digital release).

Last Three Days

Directed by

Brian Urlich

Staring Robert Palmer Watkins, Thomas Wilson Brown, Deborah Lee Smith, Roy Huang,Gina Hiraizumi

Plot: After getting mixed up with a dangerous crime syndicate, an undercover cop wakes up to discover he is missing his partner, his wife, and three days of his life.

Film Fan Dojo Reaction: What happens when a cop loses track of three days and is set up by the Yakuza? Why violence, of course! The trailer for Last Three Days definitely has that! Gun battles, fight scenes clips, Yakuza (that has to mean swords, right?) in white demon masks, a confused yet cocky cop and a buddy who may try to help him. This film seems to hit all the cliches on the button but could be a lot of fun. Check it out and see! Last Three Days was November 13, 2020 (VOD / Digital release).
